Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, made the announcement on behalf of his colleagues. Governor Uzodimma formally moved the motion to adopt President Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer for 2027, which was promptly seconded by Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani. When the motion was presented to the summit attendees, it received an enthusiastic and unanimous “yes” in approval.
Though President Tinubu is currently serving his first term in office, the conversation around his potential reelection has steadily gained momentum within political circles. In a related show of solidarity, APC governors and key political leaders from Nigeria’s North Central region also threw their weight behind President Tinubu’s reelection ambition. A strategic meeting was held on Wednesday evening in Abuja, where five APC governors from the region and other influential party stakeholders gathered to reaffirm their backing.
During the meeting, leaders from the region emphasized the need to reelect President Tinubu to maintain the momentum of his administration’s reforms and developmental strides. They praised the President’s ongoing efforts in economic stabilization, infrastructure development, and national security, and urged continued support to ensure the success of these initiatives.
The motion to endorse President Tinubu for a second term was officially moved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, who is a key political figure from the North Central region. Akume highlighted Tinubu’s achievements in governance and expressed confidence that his leadership would continue to deliver positive transformation across the country.
