The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated a directive prohibiting certain party leaders from acting as coordinators for governorship aspirants in the ongoing political activities across the state.
The party’s Secretary, Alao Olabisi Kamoru, and Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, announced the decision on Friday in Osogbo after a recent meeting with APC stakeholders in Osun.
This move comes as about six governorship aspirants have already begun consultations throughout the state, despite the party leadership not yet issuing official guidelines for the 2026 governorship election.
Tensions are rising within the APC as aspirants and their supporters intensify their campaigns. In response, Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal stated that “unit, ward, state, zonal, and national executive members are all barred from coordinating for any governorship aspirant.”
The party also extended this ban to elders and apex leaders at all levels to maintain peace within the party.
The statement warned that any titled party member who violates the directive will face strict disciplinary action.
The APC leadership also urged governorship aspirants to ensure their supporters refrain from engaging in negative campaigns that could escalate tensions.
“All stakeholders must remember that we are one political family united in the mission to replace Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 election,” the statement emphasized.
“It is crucial to focus our efforts on working together to defeat Governor Adeleke through lawful and united means. Whoever emerges as the APC candidate will need the support and cooperation of all members to lead the state.”
The party concluded by calling on members to prioritize strengthening the APC for a successful return to power in Osun State in 2026.
