The Ifedore Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected Hon. Festus Akingbaso, also known as Fessywest, describing him as a betrayal who cannot be trusted within the party. The APC chapter raised concerns over his past actions, which they perceive as self-serving and disloyal.
Hon. Akingbaso, who recently announced his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the floor of the National Assembly on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, has been accused of multiple acts of betrayal—both against his former party and the people of Ifedore Constituency.
One of the key allegations leveled against Hon. Akingbaso is his betrayal of the PDP, where he once held a prominent position. After officially declaring his defection to the APC, Akingbaso’s subsequent actions have been seen as contradictory and opportunistic. He has reportedly reached out to PDP members, urging them to join him in the APC—an act many interpret as a desperate move to secure personal political relevance rather than a commitment to APC values.
Critics argue that Akingbaso’s strategy is a clear attempt to “buy” the loyalty of PDP members, showing a willingness to manipulate party platforms for his own gain, rather than from any genuine ideological shift.
Further compounding the issue is his alleged use of the APC as a shield to cover up his failures as a Member of the House of Representatives. While constituents had expected him to provide quality representation and drive development in Ifedore, his tenure has been widely criticized as underwhelming and ineffective.
He has reportedly failed to initiate or complete any meaningful development projects within the local government, leaving residents disillusioned and frustrated by the lack of progress.
Moreover, Hon. Akingbaso has been accused of mismanaging constituency funds. Despite receiving significant financial allocations meant to improve the lives of the people, there is little to no evidence of how the funds were utilized. His time in office has been marked by a lack of accountability and transparency, raising serious questions about financial misappropriation.
Perhaps the most damning indictment of his leadership is the near-total absence of development projects across the entire Ifedore Local Government Area. Hopes for improved infrastructure, healthcare, and education under his watch have gone unfulfilled. The people of Ifedore feel abandoned, their expectations dashed by broken promises and unmet responsibilities.
In light of these allegations, the Ifedore APC has made it unequivocally clear that it does not support Hon. Akingbaso’s continued involvement in the party. His actions, they say, have not only tarnished his own reputation but have also undermined public trust in political leadership.
The APC, a party that upholds the principles of good governance, integrity, and accountability, maintains that Akingbaso’s record stands in stark contrast to its core values.
We, the people of Ifedore, deserve leaders who prioritize our needs, uphold transparency, and drive real development. Hon. Akingbaso, having failed to meet these standards, is no longer welcome in the APC. His past actions have sealed his fate as a betrayer—not only of the PDP but of the very people he was elected to serve.
