On behalf of the good people of Ilaje Constituency II and in my capacity as Chairman, House Committee on Culture, Tourism, Investments and Special Duties, I, Hon. Princess Olawumi Annah Fayemi-Obayelu, wish to extend my profound appreciation to His Excellency, the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for the historic inauguration of the Ondo State Strategic Committee on European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR) Compliance.
Your Excellency, this bold step further underscores your visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Ondo State’s pride as the Nigerian’s leading cocoa-producing state, while also positioning our farmers and processors for global competitiveness. By championing policies that align with international best practices, you have once again demonstrated that the prosperity of our people and the sustainability of our environment remain top priorities of your administration.
I also wish to specially commend your assurance of continuous support for agro-forestry practices, forestry restoration and sustainable cocoa production and exportation. These initiatives will not only secure our economic future but also protect the environment for generations to come. It will also upscale the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state through scalability initiatives of the cocoa export value chain that will inturn drive infrastructural development and investment opportunities to the state.
As a proud member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, I hereby reiterate my support and commitment to the goals of this Strategic Committee. Working closely with stakeholders across the cocoa value chain, we shall continue to ensure that our policies and legislative frameworks strengthen the governor’s vision and guarantee that Ondo State remains a beacon of agricultural and trade excellence.
